Bubble tea on the Tyne!

This part of the month is so hectic birthday-wise. I turned 24 last Monday, my boyfriend is 26 on Tuesday and my sister is 21 on Wednesday! So in celebration, we travelled to Hartlepool yesterday for a family meal at the Raby Arms, a really pretty pub which is over 300 years old!

Wensleydale & sweet chilli roasted pepper salad.

Dark chocolate & walnut brownie with mint ice cream - delish!

Today we decided to head into town to spend the remainder of my birthday money. It was sunny but so cold! Here's what I wore (wish I'd added more layers...)

Please excuse my frowny-face and the abundance of weeds in our front yard!!

Jacket - H&M
Top - Topshop
Jeans - Dorothy Perkins
Bag - Next
Shoes - Vivienne Westwood/Melissa
Sunglasses - Dior

My fella wanted to get in on the OOTD action too - note his picture isn't cropped since he is a regular size unlike my midget-self!

Pretty much his entire outfit is from Topman since he works there!

We headed to Breadpoint cafe in chinatown at lunch and picked up a strawberry bubble tea, my first! It was a strange experience, think I'd choose a different flavour next time, has anyone else tried this?

We also got an abundance of delicious buns and cakes, traditional Sunday lunch and all that

Thanks to everyone who's left me a sweet comment over the past couple of days, I really appreciate them! I've invested in a proper camera so hopefully this little blog won't be totally filled with Instagram snaps very shortly and I can take some good shots of the new things I picked up today!

Hope everyone's had a lovely Sunday

Review: Topshop Nails - Bad Habit

I absolutely adore red nails, there's something so classic and timeless about them and they go with EVERYTHING.
So when my favourite Bourjois 1 Seconde nail enamel in the deepest, richest shade of red started to dry up, I was devastated (exaggeration alert - I was a bit upset for about five minutes). After scouring Boots' up and down the country I realised that the unknown shade (why don't Bourjois print shades on their bottles?!) was probably discontinued and I'd just have to get over it.
That was until Monday when I received this lovely Topshop number from my boyfriend!
I've been wearing falsies from Primark (which I cannot reccomend highly enough) so when they started to chip away and look a bit dull I decided to paint them to try and get another few days wear out of them, and here is the result:

Pretty good, huh?
I really like Topshop nail polishes - they have a great consistency which means they don't run off the nail but they settle easily to avoid lumps and streaks. They're also ridiculously shiney so I don't have to apply a topcoat, and nicely pigmented - I got the above result in two coats.
The colour is almost exactly the same as my coveted Bourjois enamel so I don't feel quite so bad about throwing it away now, and I think they retail at around £5 which is an absolute bargain.

Review: Johnson's Dreamy Skin 3 in 1 Facial Night Wipes

Phew! That's a product name and a half!
I've decided to do a review of these wipes since I've had a little Google since buying them and can't find much about them online.
I picked them up in my local Superdrug as I queued for the tills. They were on offer (half price I think) at around £1.50 and I'm a sucker for an impulse purchase. However, they were really well priced and I was running out of my usual Boots cucumber wipes so I thought I'd indulge, and I'm so glad I did!
These wipes are great!
They come in a lovely lilac coloured packet just like a normal pack of make-up wipes, I do like wipes to have a sealable plastic lid to stop them drying out (which these don't have) but so far I haven't noticed  any drying.
The packet says they are a 3-in-1 product, designed to "cleanse, tone and effectively remove even waterproof mascara" (which sounds a bit the same as 'cleanse' to me), and my skin does feel very clean after use.
At the moment I'm using Revlon Colorstay Foundation for Combination/Oily skin during the working week, which is notoriously difficult to remove, but these seem to do the trick. I've also been wearing Soap & Glory's Thick & Fast mascara which isn't waterproof but it sure is stubborn and the wipes make light work of removing this too.
They're soft to the touch but not quilted or rough (or 'exfoliate-y' as I like to say) like other wipes I've used, but this sort of adds to the calming bedtime-ness of them.
Undoubtedly my absolute favourite thing about these wipes is the smell. It. Is. Divine. It's described as 'Aromasoothe with Moonflower' - I've never smelled a Moonflower (although I do remember the Body Shop's 'Spirit of the Moonflower' range from back in the day which I recall was quite nice) but the only way I can descibe this scent is relaxing. After I've wiped my face the smell lingers and really helps to soothe the senses and set me up for sleep.
I'll be keeping a lookout for more from the Dreamy Skin range, I use Johnson's Daily Essentials Rehydrating Night Cream for when my skin is feeling particularly dry, but always found the smell a bit odd, will be keeping an eye out for a Moonflower scented version at all times!

Here we go...

Hello and welcome to Tea on the Tyne!
This is the very first post on this here blog, and hopefully it'll turn out to be the first of many.
Let me start off by saying I'm not very good at this blogging lark, I get bored too easily and don't take enough photos of things around me, but I'm determined to do better this time, and hopefully you'll stick around for a bit.

Basically this blog is going to be a glimpse into (the interesting bits of) my otherwise fairly uneventful life. My day-to-day work, home life, pet life and products I love and don't love quite so much.

I hope it's useful or interesting to you, and I manage to blog for longer than a fortnight this time.
