VEGAN TOON - Sky Apple Cafe

Another week, another meal out. This time, we opted for Sky Apple Cafe in Heaton, which is one of our favourite vegan-friendly restaurants in Newcastle.

Sky Apple is a completely vegetarian restaurant with a good number of clearly marked vegan options. The evening menu changes every other month so there's always something new to discover, we've been four or five times and we've never had something we didn't like yet.

REVIEW - Lush Oatifix Fresh Face Mask

Lush Oatifix Fresh Face Mask

This past week I've really noticed a difference in my skin. I don't know if it's the cold weather, my penchant for caffeine or the fact that I'm constantly being blasted by central heating, but my face has been pretty dry and tight.

In a bid to defeat the dehydration, I've been drinking water like it's going out of style and religiously applying all manner of serums, oils and creams, with little effect. I turned to the Lush website for a mask that I hoped would inject some much-needed moisture back in to my skin, and came across Oatifix.

Not being "one of those vegans"

Helping people into veganism

We've all heard that familiar joke, "how do you know if there's a vegan in the room? Don't worry, they'll tell you."

Cleaning my makeup brushes with Lush Squeaky Green Shampoo Bar

Cleaning my Real Techniques brushes with Lush Squeaky Green shampoo bar

It's that time again. The time every girl dreads. The time you know is going to take at least twice as long as you planned for. It's brush cleaning time.

For ages I struggled to clean my makeup brushes with baby shampoo and blind hope. Not really knowing how much shampoo is too much and why the hell I was still at the sink when everyone promised that this was some sort of super-fast miracle product, liars.

That was until I discovered the holy grail of brush cleaners - Lush Squeaky Green Shampoo Bar!

The Vegan Kind subscription box January 2015 #TVK15

The Vegan Kind subscription box TVK15

The Vegan Kind subscription box is something I really look forward to at the beginning of every month. Usually its delivery is timed to arrive at my house on a Friday - a brilliant treat at the end of the week. This month it arrived on the Friday of the first week back at work after Christmas. Talk about good timing.

I haven't used any of the products in this month's box yet, so this is purely an 'unboxing' post for those curious to see what these little boxes are all about. I also posted about box number 10 back in August with more of an overview about what The Vegan Kind is, so if you want to read that you can have a little click here.

VEGAN TOON - Painted Elephant

Vegan Toon

Last night after work Andrew and I headed to our trusty local Holland & Barrett to pick something up for tea. Unfortunately it wasn't feeling so trusty last night because when we arrived, the freezer had broken so they had very little frozen or chilled vegan food in stock. We debated going to Waitrose, but we both knew it. This meant we were going out for tea. And where better to try than Newcastle's hottest new vegan eatery, Painted Elephant?

We'd heard lots of things about Painted Elephant - all of them positive. Freshly cooked food, 100% vegan friendly and reasonably priced, what's not to love?

(Disclaimer: due to the impromptu nature of our visit, the following photos are also... 'impromptu-ly taken'. Use your imagination. Squint a bit, if needs be.)
