The Vegan Kind Subscription Box August 2015 - #TVK22

The Vegan Kind

It's that time of the month again - The Vegan Kind box is here! This month is extra good because there's a TVK Beauty Box winging its way to me too, thanks, August!

Hoots Salt & Pepper Snack

Hoots Salt & Pepper Multigrain Snack (RRP £0.60)

A brilliant start to this month's box, these Hoots snacks are a bit like little bruschetta bites - deliciously crunchy and moreish, a nice alternative to the potato crisp. And good smothered in hummus, but what isn't?

Teatonics Ruby Red Restorative Tea

Teatonics Ruby Red Restorative Tea (RRP £5.50)

Ahhh, Teatonics! The brand that sparked my love of Yerba Mate (which I'm way too addicted to and my bank balance is not happy about.) To say I was excited to see a new Teatonics blend in this month's box would be an understatement. As the blog name might suggest, I am somewhat partial to a brew, and the two Teatonics blends I've tried before did not disappoint.

Teatonics Ruby Red Restorative Tea

This Ruby Red Restorative tea contains a blend of red and green rooibos, hibiscus, cacao shells, vanilla pods and liquorice which comes together to form the most soothing and delicious drink. It is just as delicious as it sounds - softly sweet thanks to the vanilla but not at all overpowering, I reach for a cup of this to satisfy my sweet tooth when I'm trying not to rip open a bar of chocolate.

Dr Organic Olive Oil Deodorant

Dr Organic Virgin Olive Oil Deodorant (RRP £5.49)

I'm loving natural deodorants at the minute so this was a welcome sight in my TVK box. This one has a subtle, clean scent which I like, as many natural deodorants are unscented. It's been years since I've used a roll-on, and I'd almost forgotten about that slight stickiness they leave behind after applying, but this is a good option for a lazy day when you want to feel fresh but it doesn't have to work too hard!

Beond Organic Blueberry Bite

Yum, yum, yum, a bit like a little chunk of Nakd bar, this Beond blueberry bite was just big enough to have as a light pre-workout snack and quell any sweet cravings.

Beond Organic Sour Cherry Bite

I love anything sour cherry so this was destined to be my favourite of the two Beond bites in the box - packed with a smattering of cherry chunks, this was delicious and I'll definitely be on the hunt for more!

IQ Superfood Chocolate

iQ Orange with Wild Raspberry Chocolate Superfood Bar (RRP £2.49)

Although I love the notion that chocolate might make us a bit cleverer, and I really liked the amount of information on the packaging, I was a little bit disappointed with this. It had that slight taste of alcohol which some dark chocolates can have, and I couldn't taste the orange or raspberry at all. I think it needed a stronger flavour to shine through the dark cocoa - iQ also makes a peppermint bar which I think would work better.

Sticky Mix Free From Belgian Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix

Sticky Mix Free From Belgian Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix (RRP £3.50)

YES - easy baking! This is right up my street. Love a freshly baked cookie, too lazy to make them from scratch.
I baked these the day my box arrived with the intention of taking them to work for my colleagues. None of them made it past the door. They were deliciously soft, chocolatey and not too sweet.
The only fault I had was that the dough was much too wet using the ingredients provided, and I ended up having to add quite a bit more flour to mine before I could roll them into cookies.
