The Vegan Kind Subscription Box January 2016 TVK27

Ok so first off, how is this box number 27 of The Vegan Kind? Where did the time go please? I've been a subscriber since about box 6 so it's crazy to me there have been 27 of these and I still look forward to receiving my box each month.

I have blogged many a time about these but they keep on introducing me to new vegan-friendly products and brands each month so I never get bored of them. Read on to find out what was in January's box...

DIY Tutorial - Rustic Dining Table with Hairpin Legs

DIY Tutorial - Rustic Dining Table with Hairpin Legs

As part of my New Year's resolutions (yep, I'm still on about those in mid-January), I've decided to challenge myself to do or try at least one thing each month which is totally new to write about on the blog.

When I say trying something new, I don't mean a new shade of lipstick or cleanser, I mean something which I have never tried before and pushes me outside of my comfort zone. Suggestions welcome!

The January challenge was inspired in part by our house move, and in part by my other half, Andrew. When we moved into the new place we found ourselves with two dining areas - one in the lounge and one in the kitchen - but only one table which actually functioned in the space. Our little IKEA four-seater which was sufficient in the old house was totally drowning in its new space, and bordering on looking a little ridiculous.

After several weeks of looking at uninspiring, overpriced tables online, Andrew suggested we make our own - and that's what we did!

So if you'd like to learn how to build your own rustic wood dining table with hairpin legs, read on...

REVIEW - Planet Pure Laundry Liquid*

Planet Pure Organic Laundry Liquid

Since we moved into our new house I've come over all domesticated. Not that I was a total slob before, but since moving I have become really particular about things and have been obsessively purchasing new cleaning products to ensure our new utility room is fully stocked.

When it comes to living a vegan / cruelty free lifestyle, it's about more than just the foods you eat and the products you use on your skin. Many household cleaning products contain animal products or are tested on animals, including some of the major brands like Ariel, Fairy, Lenor, Mr Muscle and Febreze. This can make choosing cruelty free household products a really difficult task, but thankfully not an impossible one.

Cruelty Free Cold & Flu Essentials

Cruelty Free Cold and Flu

It's that age old mantra, 'write what you know', and so far this month I have become well acquainted with feeling freaking lousy.

The day before New Year's Eve, I could feel it coming. That scratchy, sharp pain at the back of the throat, the tell-tale sign that a sore throat is looming. We were hosting on New Year's Eve and I was determined to not let it get to me, but by half-past midnight I had admitted defeat and hit the orange juice.
