These Ultra Blush Palettes have been on the market for a little while but I was on the lookout for a new highlighter and picked this up in my local Superdrug for the bargainous price of £6. I kid you not.

Eating vegan at Turtle Bay Newcastle

There's been quite a buzz about Turtle Bay since it opened in Newcastle earlier this year. Situated near The Gate, just outside of Eldon Square, this Caribbean chain has been at the top of my 'must visit' list since I heard they did a decent vegan-friendly dish, so last week we booked a table and did just that.

The day before Mother's Day was our mum's birthday, so me and my sister decided to surprise her by taking her for afternoon tea.

A few weeks back I asked on Twitter if anyone knew of anywhere in Newcastle that served a vegan afternoon tea and it became quite obvious that, whilst there are loads of nice places to have an omni or veggie tea, it's slim pickin's for us vegans.

Next month marks my two year vegan-versary and since switching to a plant-based diet I don't think we have had the exact same meal more than two or three times, and that's if we really like it. Back when I was vegetarian I would eat the same things each week; lasagne, some sort of pasta bake, pizza, beige stodge covered in cheese. When I tell people I'm vegan I'm often met with the same response; "but what do you actually eat? Don't you get bored of salad?" Errrrr, no, what are you even talking about? Vegan cooking encourages experimentation. Veggies, grains, legumes, herbs, spices - all so tasty and versatile.
